the kids and the ipad

When I was still a kid, I remember play time was hot and sweaty and outside. Nowadays, play time for my kids are soft and cushiony and cool under the fan or air-cond and indoors.

Perhaps I shouldn't have woken up at 3am just to line up for the dang iPad 2 when it came to Ipoh two years ago because this is how lil' Ee and lil' Kai {and their dad - picture not posted here} spend their time in the afternoons - on their iPad 2's.

will the real louboutin please raise your heel?

Just as women around the world associates the blue of the robin-egg to Tiffany; a pair of towering black pumps with the colour red on its soles can only be associated with one name in the shoe world of high fashion – Christian Louboutin.

Born in 1992, the house of Louboutin helped bring back the stilettos by designing killer heels and literally, they are "killer heels" especially to the balance impaired like me because the heels on a pair of Louboutin begin from heights of 120 mm or higher with a price tag between USD $400 and USD $6,000! If the height doesn't give you a coronary, the price tag will. And to add more spice to that,  Monsieur Louboutin doesn't care if his creations hurt women either. He's actually told Grazia magazine:
"I really have not so much sympathy. If Tina Turner and Prince's back-up band can perform on stage in them for three hours, you can't tell me they are impossible to walk in. High heels are pleasure with pain. If you can't walk in them, don't wear them." - Christian Louboutin.
Yet women around the world still drool over a pair and want to own one, me included. I guess it's the exclusivity of it, like owning a pair of Jimmy Choos or Manolo Blahniks - whenever you see red soles on a pair of shoes particularly on a pair of sky high black pumps, you'd automatically associate it with the name Christian Louboutin, the rich and the famous.

Unfortunately the constant flatline in my account will never allow such fantasies to take flight, which might be a good thing too since I am a known klutz - I trip even on Crocs. But then {There will always be a "but then" when it comes to high fashion for womenkind. Deal with it, men.} my company's annual dinner has come up with a not-so-original colour theme for the night but still a rather exciting one at that - black, gold and red. I've decided to bust out my 20% off LBD from Mango, found my perfect red lippie for cheap and a pair of elegant gold earrings for even cheaper. What's left are the shoes and with some Google-ing and channeling into my inner DIY-goddess {erm, more of telling dearest husband what to do}, I came up with this ...

beautylabo whip hair colour

The last time I dyed my hair was back in October 2012 so it's been three months since and my scalp has been sporting a two-tone-longkang-look for over a month now. Definitely time for a new colour update. So, during the long holidays last weekend, I tossed handed over lil' Kai to dearest husband and dragged lil' Ee to the nearest Guardian. I came home with this.

The Beautylabo Whip hair colour in Maple Chocolat {nrp RM32.90} which sounded delicious at the time I paid for it but not so much after. Bottom line, do I like this? An itsy bitsy timid nod of a "Yes" but a lot more of an exclamation squeal of "No!". Here's why ...

friends cafe ipoh

A couple of months back, FIL attended a dinner sans MIL and came back raving about the venue and its food so we all decided to give the place a try for New Year’s dinner and I fell in love with the ambience and the food.

the mythical tiffany blue box®

Come 18 January every year since I got married, I have secretly wished with my fingers and toes crossed that dearest husband might get the hints I've been subtlely dropping the last five years and surprise me with this ...

planning for a night out with dior, a mango and a pair of nose.

A girl can never have enough of lip glosses in her collection and one that is a perfect red is a must. So, off I marched and in search of my perfect shade of red lip gloss and I found this - the limited edition Dior Addict Ultra Gloss Pearl lip gloss in "Ceremony Red #774" - (nrp RM90).

Part of Dior's Holiday 2012 Grand Bal Collection launched in October 2012 in US and internationally in November 2012, "Ceremony Red #774" is one half of the the two lip glosses that are offered in the 15 piece line-up. The other half is "Lame Gold #424" which is a gold gloss. I wish I read about the collection earlier but since I only found out about it in January 2013, most of the goodies are already sold out.
